Search⌘KProcessing and qualities
After upload, dodocast extracts the tracks and encodes several qualities. The video is watchable as soon as the first one is ready.

What happens
- Extraction. Tracks are pulled from the file: video, audio in each language, and subtitles.
- Encoding. The video is transcoded into several qualities for adaptive streaming: 240p, 480p, 720p, and 1080p, up to your plan's ceiling (Starter: 720p; Pro and Business: 1080p) and no higher than the source.
- Done. The player switches quality automatically to match the viewer's connection speed.
The media page updates on its own; follow the progress on the Overview or Tracks tab.
Statuses
| Status | What it means |
|---|---|
| Awaiting upload | the record exists, but there's no file yet |
| Queued | the file is uploaded; processing will start soon |
| Processing N% | tracks are being extracted and qualities encoded |
| Ready to stream | the first quality is ready: you can watch the video and share the link; the other qualities are added automatically |
| Ready / Processed | all qualities are ready |
| Failed | processing stopped; check your plan limits under Resource Usage and try again |
How long it takes
All qualities are processed in parallel; 1080p takes the longest. Timing depends on the video's length and the queue: a few minutes for a short clip, longer for a feature film or if you uploaded many files at once.
Channels wait for all qualities
A video can join a 24/7 channel program only when all of the channel's qualities are ready. While 1080p is still encoding, the console marks the video "missing 1080p". Wait, then add it again.
What counts toward your plan
Encoding is counted in minutes per quality: a 10-minute video in four qualities is 40 minutes. Storage is counted by the total size of all the media's files. More in Plans and limits.
