Use cases24/7 streaming channel
Your own 24/7 channel, from the videos you have.
Turn a library of uploaded videos into a linear channel that plays around the clock, like a TV station. Viewers join at the current moment, scheduled shows take their slots, and you can change the program while it’s on air.
How to launch a 24/7 channel.
Five steps in the dodocast console. You don’t need an encoder, streaming software or a computer that runs day and night.
Upload your videos
Upload mp4, mov, mkv, webm or avi files to a project. Uploads resume after a dropped connection, and you can upload a batch at once. A channel needs videos with an audio track.
Build the program
On the channel’s Program tab, add processed videos and drag them into order. The program loops: after the last video, the first one starts again.
Set the format
On the Delivery tab, choose the renditions (up to 1080p, depending on your plan), the aspect ratio, the audio and subtitle languages, and encryption.
Add scheduled shows
On the Schedule tab, put a video or a whole playlist at a set time — once, every day or on chosen weekdays. Between shows, the program plays.
Switch it on and share
Press “Switch on”. The channel stays on air until you switch it off. Share its page, embed it on your site or open its HLS link on a TV.
A TV channel without a control room.
Change it while it’s on air
Add, remove or reorder videos on a running channel. The edit takes effect at the next item boundary, so viewers never see a break.
Runs until you stop it
A channel is either on air or off. There are no start and stop windows to plan: switch it on and it keeps going.
Shows at fixed times
Shows last from 1 to 1,440 minutes and follow the channel’s time zone, so “every day at 8 PM” stays at 8 PM after the clocks change.
You choose what fills the gaps
Between shows the program can start over, continue where the show interrupted it, or run in the background the whole time.
Audio and subtitles
The channel promises viewers its audio and subtitle languages, in soft or strict mode. Videos that don’t fit the channel’s format are listed in the console with the reason.
A key for the whole air
AES-128 or SAMPLE-AES at channel level. Segments are encrypted on delivery, so encrypted and plain videos can share one channel.
One channel, every screen.
Every channel gets a public page, an embed code, two HLS manifests and a program guide in JSON.
- The channel page shows an “On air” badge, what’s on now and what’s next.
- Embed the player on your site, or let it appear only on the domains you list.
- Open the fMP4/CMAF or MPEG-TS manifest on Smart TVs, set-top boxes and lobby screens.
- Read the guide and “now / next” as JSON with open CORS — for a widget on your site or an app. The player SDK wraps both calls.
Plans. 24/7 channels come with Pro (1 channel) and Business (5 channels). An extra channel is $29 per month. Direct HLS links are available on Pro and Business.
A channel for whatever you already film.
Company and lobby TV
Product films, news and onboarding videos on screens in offices, stores and hotels — one HLS link per screen.
Media archives
A back catalog of shows or documentaries becomes a channel that runs on your site day and night.
Education
Lectures and talks on a schedule: the morning course, the evening replay, a weekend marathon.
What a dodocast channel is — and isn’t.
dodocast airs videos you have uploaded. Some people call this format a FAST channel; ours comes without ad insertion.
- No live camera or encoder input: the channel plays uploaded files.
- No ad breaks inside the channel and no rewind or catch-up: viewers watch the current moment.
- No restreaming to other platforms: the channel plays on its page, in your embeds and in HLS players.
Do I need a computer running all the time?
No. Once you switch the channel on, dodocast plays it on its own servers until you switch it off.
Can I change the program while the channel is on air?
Yes. Add, remove or reorder videos at any time; the change takes effect at the next item boundary.
Which players can play the channel?
The dodocast player on the channel page and in embeds, and any HLS player through the fMP4/CMAF or MPEG-TS manifest — on Pro and Business.
Can I show the schedule on my own site?
Yes. The guide covers the next 24 hours by default and up to two weeks on request, as open JSON.
Your channel is one upload away.
We're opening dodocast to early partners: media, education, events, in-house TV. Tell us what you want to put on air.
