SolutionsSecurityPrivate video

Video foryour people only.

Lock a video with a password or a private link, hide it inside a playlist and allow embedding only on your own sites. Set it for the account, a project or a single video.

Access

Four policies and a domain list.

01 / PASSWORD

Password

Viewers enter a password on the page. The owner can see the password in the console and change it.

02 / PRIVATE LINK

Private link

The link has 32 random characters. Generate a new one and the old link stops working.

03 / PLAYLIST ONLY

Playlist only

The video has no page or embed of its own: it can only be watched inside a playlist, and the playlist controls access.

04 / DOMAINS

Domain-restricted embed

Everywhere, nowhere or on specified domains — up to 50, including *.example.com.

05 / INHERIT

Inheritance

Account → project → video. Change a project’s access and the console shows how many videos it affects.

06 / ON AIR

Air has its own access

Channels and broadcasts have their own policy: show a private video on public air, or the other way round.

Direct links

Private means private everywhere.

The access policy isn’t only about the page: direct HLS links to a private video won’t open without a signature, and the console warns you if a public playlist shows the video.

  • For a private video, direct HLS links work only when signed with your key.
  • A playlist in “Playlist access” mode overrides the video’s access — the console shows which playlists contain the video and which of them are public.
  • Starter has no direct links at all: the video is delivered only through the dodocast player.
How to set it up

Three steps in the console.

01

Choose a policy

The Access tab of a video, playlist, channel or broadcast — or of a project, for all its videos.

02

Restrict embedding

“Where can the player be shown?” — everywhere, nowhere or on your domains.

03

Share

The password — with the people allowed in, or the whole private link.
