Use casesPrivate video hosting
Private videothat stays where you put it.
Lock a video with a password or a private link, keep it inside a playlist, and let the player appear only on your own sites. For your own app, sign links on your server — they expire on schedule.
Four policies and a domain list.
Password
Viewers enter a password on the page or in the embed. You can see and change the password in the console.
Private link
A link with 32 random characters. Generate a new one and the old link stops working.
Only inside a playlist
The video has no page or embed of its own: it plays only inside a playlist, and the playlist controls access.
Allowed domains
Let the player appear everywhere, nowhere, or only on up to 50 domains, including wildcards like *.example.com.
Set it once
Account → project → video. Change a project’s access and the console shows how many videos it affects.
Channels and broadcasts too
24/7 channels and broadcasts have their own access, separate from the videos they play.
Your server decides who watches.
For a members area, a paid course or a client portal, sign stream links on your backend with your own key. At playback, dodocast only checks the signature.
- A plain JWT signed with HS256: the key ID in the header, the video code and the expiry in the payload.
- Links live up to 24 hours, and a token for one video doesn’t open another.
- Revoke a key and its links stop working within a minute; keep two keys to rotate without downtime.
- Code samples in Kotlin, Python, Node.js and PHP are in the console; the player SDK signs links in Node.js.
Plans. Direct and signed links are on Pro and Business. On Starter, video is delivered only through the dodocast player.
Encrypted segments and a mark in every frame.
HLS encryption
AES-128 or SAMPLE-AES with your own key or a generated one, rotated in one click. Downloading the segments isn’t enough to get the video.
Burned-in watermark
A PNG logo or text in one of 9 positions or tiled across the frame, burned into every rendition during encoding.
Private everywhere
Direct HLS links to a private video don’t open without a signature, and the console warns you if a public playlist shows it.
Strong against casual copying. Not DRM.
ClearKey encryption delivers the key to the player. It stops downloading by direct link and stitching files together, and signed links stop sharing with outsiders. It doesn’t stop screen recording — that’s what the watermark is for.
- No DRM (Widevine, FairPlay, PlayReady).
- No blocking by country.
- One watermark for all viewers — no personal marks with a viewer’s name.
Can I stop people from downloading my videos completely?
No service without DRM can promise that. dodocast makes downloading hard — encryption, signed links, allowed domains — and the watermark identifies your content in any copy.
Can I change access for many videos at once?
Yes. Set access on a project and every video that inherits it follows; the console shows how many videos the change affects.
Does a password work inside an embed?
Yes. A password-protected video shows the password form inside the embedded player.
What happens to an old private link?
When you generate a new private link, the old one stops working.
Your channel is one upload away.
We're opening dodocast to early partners: media, education, events, in-house TV. Tell us what you want to put on air.
